Windows 10 (update)

If you have downloaded windows updates recently you may of noticed the windows icon down in the system tray (by the clock). If you hover over it it will give you the option of signing up for Windows 10 when released on June 29th. From what I have read it seems as if windows 10 will come as a windows download and will be approximately 3GB in size. It will install over your existing copy of the windows platform.

I am very surprised by this  move from Microsoft. I can faintly recall the migration from XP to Vista being painful for those who chose to do a in place upgrade. I am also a bit perplexed since Windows 7 was released in both as a 32-bit operating system and a 64-bit Os. From my reading It looks as windows 10 will strictly be a 64-bit OS. (I believe the days of 32-bit operating systems are over.) My guess is for you 32-bit OS users out there you will not be able to upgrade.

I am wondering why Microsoft is making this bold move for the (home users) but not corporate america.

I am still skeptical of this move from Microsoft to release an OS for free to existing license holders. I am also curious if the next version of windows will be free as well. I guess we will have to wait and see.
